First class or 1000BTC?
Global rankings, convocation ceremonies and a matriculation proposal.
What's up guyyyy?
I almost started with “Dearest gentle reader” but I left Bridgerton and I've been replaying this video of a student saying she would rather earn a First Class degree than accept 1,000 Bitcoin.. Must be niceeee.
Nigerian Universities Made Global Rankings Again
The 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject dropped, and 24 Nigerian universities made the list; the highest number in Sub-Saharan Africa.
University of Ibadan and UNILAG are jointly ranked 1st in Nigeria but University of Ibadan ranked Nigeria’s best overall, topping areas like Law and Medicine.
For students, this matters because rankings affect research funding, international recognition, and postgraduate opportunities.

With academic activities already disrupted, the school halted the ceremony altogether.
Freshers remain officially “unmatriculated” as talks continue.
