Anyway, let's start what we have come here to do
First of all, shoutout to UNILAG students, because while the rest of us were dragging our bags to 8am lectures, you people were on Lecture-Free Week + GST exams combo meal. Honestly, that one is a soft life starter pack. No lectures, just exams and vibes. I know some of you were using that free time to “revise” (aka sleep, gist, and plan Valentine’s outfits). Must be nice.
Then Abuja campuses said, hold my banner.
Political rallies everywhere. Posters, megaphones, convoys, people shouting promises into thin air. FCT Area Council elections are around the corner, so this week was peak campaign chaos. If you school in UniAbuja, Nile, Baze or Veritas, you definitely heard “VOTE FOR…” at least five times before breakfast. Political science students were getting real-life practicals whether they liked it or not.
As if that wasn’t enough movement, Muslim student societies on campuses entered full Ramadan prep mode. Mosque cleanings, lectures, spiritual resets, and emotional readiness everywhere. Meanwhile, market women saw this coming from 10 business days away and said, let’s increase dates and food prices sharply. Students just stood there calculating how to survive fasting season economically. Pre-Ramadan stress is always spiritual and financial.
Sports-wise, male hostels are still suffering from post-AFCON withdrawal symptoms. One month after the final and you’d think people would heal, but no. The debates have simply migrated to European football.
If you hear shouting at 2am, it’s either Champions League banter or someone defending a club that has disappointed them emotionally for years.🙃
Now let’s enter the unserious zoneeee

Finally, Twitter/X gave us “study date” season.
Economy is tight, love is expensive, so students rebranded library sessions as romance. Imagine lovers now sounding like: “Let’s go and read together.” Peak Nigerian adaptation skills. Low budget, high creativity.
All in all, this week had everything:
Academic escape, political noise, spiritual preparation, sports trauma, financial dodging, and emotional strategy.If weeks were people, this one would definitely be that dramatic friend that always has gist.
